I purchaced a used 2001 Suzuki DT 225 and have been using it this summer with limitted success. I discovered that the throttle body plate was occasionally sticking when accelerating and also when bringing the motor back to and idle. This makes docking the boat more than interesting. I purchased the official Suzuki service manual which shows three holes drilled on one side of the throttle plate. The one installed on my engine has no holes in the throttle plate. I removed the throttle body assembly and installed three one-eighth holes on one side approximately as shown in the service manual. Hawla-luya the throttle no longer sticks. Using a voltmeter, I reset the throttle body sensor per the manual, but now the cold idle is to fast (1500 rpm) and the warm idle is to slow (it dies frequently).
Is the service manual correct or should there be no holes in the throttle body plate?
