2001 Tahoe Q3

Hi, I am looking at a 2001 Tahoe Q3 with a 2003 mercury 90 hp ELPTO motor. Interior looks in great shape for the year. I’m new to boating and the owner wants $5,800. What issues and what are the known problems with this year and model boat/motor. Any advice what to look for and research would be much appreciated.

On a boat that old, brand matters a lot less. Condition is king. If it's in good shape - not just the exterior, but the bones (transom, stringers, etc) too - then it can be a good boat. Same is true of the Merc outboard. Someone else may know of some common issues with them, but no reason it couldn't be a good motor. Again, it's all condition.

Make sure you get a water test. That's an 18' boat (I think), right? 90HP sounds low for it. Quick internet search said they could have a max of 150HP. If that's correct, I wouldn't want too much less than 110 on it.
