I'm starting this tread because of a firing issue I am having on a 2001 Vmax. I just put a new power head on the boat for a friend of mine the problem I'm having is I'm only getting fire on number 6 cylinder the other 5 cylinders are dead. Ok, so I switched the coils around in several different configurations and they all fire when pluged into the number 6 cylinder. I have went back and quadruple checked every plug to see if maybe a pen and pushed out or something like that everything's good all of the ground wires are good. I took the flywheel and stator back off they both look like they just came out of the box, so now I'm stumped. What I'm trying to find out is the problem in the control module? And if it is, is there a way to test it without having to take the time to Ohm out each wire individually? I would think that a Yamaha dealer well equiped would have a set up to just plug in to the control module and check it. I know wishful thinking anyway I'm looking for some help on this anything I find out anywhere else I'll definitely post and hopefully get to the bottom of this issue and make this beast come to life... Hopefully this topic will help someone else in the future.

Although this is an electrical issue, "engine electrical issues" get much better attention if you post the question in the appropriate "Engine" part of the forum. Yamaha and Suzy are combined in the forum. This forum if for general electrical issues that are "boat' related.
