Hi, I have a 2001 Seaswirl with the 3.0 Volvo Penta. Last weekend it started over heating. I took the impeller housing off, and the part of the housing that should stay on the crank pulley came right off, leaving the bearing on the crank pulley. I don't see anything that hold that part of the house on the bearing other than it just looks pressed on. The bearing seems ok and I could drive it back on. but I want to make sure I am doing it right.I posted a few pictures. Not sure if I need to replace the whole thing or I can just press it back on. Thanks in advance for any help

Odd that a snap ring can just disappear. I would replace that seal, if its bad then it can suck air. It looks like that thing got warm, is that rubber burnt onto the housing?

I ended up ordering a new one, I don't know what happened to the snap ring. That rubber substance on the housing comes from the tip of the bracket that holds the pump from spinning. It has a little piece of rubber that keeps it from coming into contact with the housing, it seems to have broke down and is sort of gooey on the end. I have had it off a few times and it always get's all over me. I really should try and replace it, any idea what it's called?
