Hi To the experts here-Do you know of any problems with the 2002 150 hp Johnson Bomb. as far as carbuerators. My buddy bought one new and was towed in almost enery time out. nhe has taken it in several times and it's always the same story. They replace something and he still pays for something even though it's under warranty but the boat still gives him trouble.
Now they say it's the carbs sop they are replacing those. Any known inherent problems? Thanks MonDoo

Replace something? Pay for something?

That's pretty general.

Can you be more specific?

Well all I am asking is do you know of anything about the 150 that was a problem in all the engines made at that time. Or does he just have a lemon. hey when you pay 8 to 10000 for a motor you kind of expect it to have ben engineered correctly.

MooDoo,

With all due respect, calling an engine a lemon becase it keeps quitting is not a fair statement.

There are a lot of parts that are part of the boat; fuel/water seperator, controls, wiring, etc. that have nothing to do with the basic engine that may have not been made by the engine maker. Also, throw in the installation. Was it done right?

As a general rule, the Bombardier built engines have been very fine.

With all due respect DJ the last sentence was all I was looking for. Why do you always give me a lecture first?

My question DJ if you would read it right was ( Do you know of anything wrong engineering wise about the 150? Not about the wiring or the water separater or installation. Just the motor. Thanks anyway MonDoo

Just thought we'd try to get to the bottom of it instead of throwing blame around.

Throwing blame around. I asked a simple question. Are you on drugs?

Pretty, unusual attitude there, Mon Doo.

DJ is trying to get to the bottom of the problems your acquaintance had.

Our members are pretty sensitive about product or company bashing.

If you are unwilling or unable to provide details, say so.

I know of no design or chronic problems with Bombardier- built Johnsons of any HP.

I dont know who buildt this engine, but some of the 01s came from factory with trash in the carbs. Maby this one is an early 02, and some of these got by the QC inspector. Time for new dealer or tech. Check all carbs for trash, sticking float needle, warped parts. Carbs ok, fuel pressure ok, check power pack output to ignition coil at idle and full throttle. Packs and sensors have been a problem. If it is a warranty problem, the Bomb is not hard to deal with.
