2002 25HP 2Stroke (ELH) LOWER UNIT HELP

I was wondering if anyone knows the trick to disconnecting the shift rod to drop the lower unit on subject engine. Have all the bolts out, and the lower unit drops about an inch, but it looks as though the shift rod needs disconnected. <br />I went to the library and looked at some older merc manuals, but seems to be a different setup.

The shift rod comes up close to where the carb meets the block. The anchor pin is on the port side and swings away from the pivot shaft, then pulls out of the shift shaft.

Thanks for the help, I sucessfully dropped the lower unit with no problems. Seems easy now. Had to take the electric starter off (2 bolts) and reach in and unclip the retaining pin on the pivot shaft, thus releasing the shift rod. tilted engine up and removed remaining bolt on lower unit and the unit slid right out with no problems. Kept it in neutral throughout evolution, and had no problems when reassembling.<br />Again thanks for the help.
