2002 50hp 4 stroke mercury

Ok, so I am looking at buying a 2002 50hp Merc four stroke that has been laying on a pallet for a couple of years. I am going to try and get running before I buy it. What other than change the oil, and lower gear lube do I need to do with it before I try and start it? I am thinking putting two stroke oil or some type of lube in the cylinders and turn over with the plugs out to free the rings. Any suggestions would be helpful
