We have a 2003 Evinrude Ficht 115 HP. A neighbor once told us that the spark plugs were "special" and you had to go through a bunch of them to make sure they were installed in the correct orientation. We have since moved but I'm curious what this means. We were hoping to buy four plugs and change them out.

You mark the outside of the plug with the way the electrode points.------Then when you torque them you see how they end up.------Experiment till you get them to point as per a dealer or manual.

A set of 4 plugs from the dealer should be all you need. The procedure is called indexing the plugs.

A good torque wrench and 6 plugs...torque to at least 15 foot pounds...you want the open gap facing towards the injector anywhere in a 60 degree or so arc. 30 ft pounds max. It's called indexing. I bet you could find a video...
