2002 evinrude ficht 200hp???????

Here we go! I have a 2002 Evinrude Ficht 200hp outboard on my 23ft fish hawk. It runs and starts perfect when cold. It runs great for around 20 to 30 minutes, then dies abruptly. After which it will not crank or anything. I took it out today and had to be towed back by tow boat us. After being home for a couple of hours I went out hit the key and it cranked. So it put the ears on it and turned on the water and started it up, and ran it for 10-15 minutes. No problems I had some stuff to do so I shut it off. So the question is does this have some kind of kill switch for when it thinks the engine is overheating? It does have the check engine light on.

Check all your battery cable connections both on the mtr and the battery for being clean and tight. After that you will have to trouble shoot it when the prob occurs.

Battery cable on the starter is brand new and tight. All battery cables are clean and tight, also no corrosion. When it died today, I jumped the starter with a screwdriver and the motor turned over, but had no spark. Ignition when turned on would light the dash warning lights etc., but no power for cranking. Any ideas???

PDP panel or main relay...

Hi adm1476,
I have the same issue with my 200HP, I've had it over to my dealer who told me to trade the motor which I'm not going to do. Searching other threads it seems a common problem amongst these motors. I have checked the water circuit through the EMM and onto the fuel pump which seems to be water cooled as well, this seemed fine.
I noted on another thread somebody mentioned a temperature coefficient resistor to blame however don't know the location of this, I suspect it could be in the EMM and understand there is a company that can repair these or get in touch with BRP and it seems they can help.
If you find anything out please let me know.

The main relay is new. What is the PDP panel?

The power distribution panel with all the fuses and trim relays in it , the are known for problems....

Had the same thing fixed in sept. emm is bad, sent it out had it repaired and runs awesome. It's a connection inside the emm when it gets hot it looses contact, when it cools it connects again. Had the whole emm rebuilt including about 20 upgrades in the emm with a 1year warranty. If it restarts after it cools, that the problum.
