Having a problem with boat shutting off under power. This occurs after running boat for awhile and then stopping for a swim. Maybe fuel is vapor locking??

Howdy

Could use a bit more info

Does it do all the time when you slow to idle or only when you have been running hard for a while?
When it dies will it restart right away or does it take some cranking, or need to sit?
Is this a new to you boat?
If not a new to you boat, when did it start?

It is a new boat to us, got it in April of this year. It does not happen every time we take the boat out. We can launch, go ride around the lake, tube, etc. then after letting boat sit while we swim in lake say 30 mins to 2 hours. Boat will crank fine but throttle can be half to wide open and it still will shut off like you ran out of gas. Then we will have to wait anywhere from 10 to 20 mins and then it will fire again. When trying to restart motor will turn over but will not fire, it sounds like it's it getting any fuel. Have you ever heard of a boat doing this? How can I fix it?

If this was a EFI motor then I would think vapor lock, but being a carb not so much. Need to find out if your not getting fuel or spark.

When it will not start, need to remove the flame arrestor and look down the carb as the throttle is pushed forward. Need to see if there is gas squirting in the throat. If you see gas then we know its spark. Bring a voltmeter along to find out if there is 12V at the coil + side
