Just bought a 23 foot Trophy with 2002 Mercruiser 5.0 carburated.Control handle has trim stuff on it and also a "start/run" switch near bottom of handle. What is that for? Ive had several older mc's but have not encountered this start run sw. before. Boat has a few issues and want to find out how all this is SUPPOSED to work before I get too far in to things. Reply appreciated.

That could be the kill switch. It should have a lanyard attached to you.
A pic always helps.J

should have an elasticated loop that as you put switch into run position(up)the switch holds the loop in.you attach other end of lanyard to wrist, life jacket or somewhere else on person and if you are unfortunate enough to be catapaulted out of boat or loose control the lanyard pulls out and engine power is cut.its there for your safety and others that may be hurt when your boat is travelling with no one at the helm.or similar here;http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMA...5032017QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

A couple of things that may help you with your boat.
Click here and you can download the OEM Operators manual for your particular engine and drive.

You can also Go Here to download the Trophy owners manuals.
