Would like some help diagnosing this problem. Had a battery go bad this weekend and would not start the motor. Power trim would work well, and ignition turned on and could hear the starter click, but would not turn the motor over. Wires were hot/ warm, so I knew it was trying. After trying the key to start for the 8th time, something happened where the starter would no longer even get power (or make any noise). After replacing the battery, when turning the key to on I get the usual quick check beep, but no sound or beep when trying to start. Cables are not warm, so It's not sending power to the solenoid. I can jump the battery to the starter and it readily spins. I have checked the main 4 fuses in the engine, and the 25 amp fuse on the port side near the spark plugs- all are good. Are there any other fuses to check? What could blow trying to start the motor like that? What else should I be looking for? Thanks!

Happen to have a serial number handy?

There is at least one relay but just trying to figure out what you have. Get a volt meter and start working backwards from the starter. It could be the neutral safety switch, key switch, or something else simple but need to find out if voltage is making the trip

Thank you. Working backwards as far as I can by myself now. Interesting note, when checking the part number of the starter solenoid/relay, it comes up as a Yamaha part.

Yes, Yamaha made the 4 stroke power heads for Merc at that time
