2002 Larson 210 Sxi with 5.0GL-A motor (530 hrs). I am having trouble starting the motor primarily cold starting issues. Here's the situation:

- Problem started back in May after a day out in the water. No engine troubles until the very end of the day when we were heading back to the boat ramp. After having it sit at a dock during dinner, we attempted to get boat on plane. Engine sputtered and died. Couldn't restart engine. Had to be towed.

- Took boat to mechanic. Tried to start and again, was having trouble. Within 10 minutes and some starter fluid from a can, the engine fired up although the first time it took the motor a little to come up to idle rpms. But once it was there it was purring like a kitten. Turned motor off and tried starting again, no problems. Reved engine to 2500 rpms, no sputtering. Mechanic said if it continues to do this its probably my fuel pump going bad.

- Took boat back out on lake, no problem with initial start, but took it to cove and let it sit turned off. Started it once or twice to see if it would come back one. Restarted no problem. Left cove, tried to get it on plane...sputtered out and died. After about 6-8 attempts, got motor running, but again, it took a few seconds for the motor to work up to idle rpms.

- Replaced fuel pump.

- Yesterday, we made 3 attempts on the boat ramp to get it started. Again, took a few seconds for the motor to work up to idle rpms. Took the boat out ran it around a little. Took it to cove and let it sit. Again turned motor over once or twice to make sure it would still turn over and run. No problems. Repositioned boat after about 30 min. Cut motor. Noticed we were still drifting. Attempted to start motor. No dice. Took 8 to 10 attempts for the motor. Again, sputtered up to idle rpms.

This is where I'm at. Now I'm wonderiwonderI have bad gas, bad fuel filter (replaced March 2020), maybe my spark plugs are bad (during my tune up I noticed some carbon on a couple of the plugs and a little corrosion on the rotor).

Any other ideas? Am I on the right track for trouble shooting?

Thanks!
