Hello, I recently purchased a 2002 Yamaha 20 Hp 2 stroke short shaft and when I put in forward gear the block plate does not lift high enough to let the throttle open up also it is not shifting properly and if i spin the prop in neutral I hear a clicking noise that goes away if I hold back slightly on the shift lever. will not go into reverse easy either.
I've tried adjusting the rod from the shift lever and the nut on the shift rod going to the lower unit but I cannot seem to get it to work correctly is there a process for adjusting these rods?
