I have a 2002 Yamaha 90 TLRA mounted on a 20' Crestliner mod-v jon boat. I noticed some time back it start to loose power and started playing with props. It used to run like a scalded dog with the stock 17 pitch prop. Now I am down to a 15 pitch and can only get 4600 rpm on a good day. The engine still runs smooth but doesn't have the quick takeoff it used to and doesn't reach max rpms. I believe I have another issue other than the prop and am thinking of changing the fuel filter and fuel pump before taking it to the shop because these look to be fairly simple to perform and relatively inexpensive. Could either of these cause my problem or is there something else I should be looking at? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

It does sound like a fuel restriction. Either the filter or fuel pump could be a cause.
