Engine won't start, just turns over...

Things that I have done so far...

  • Replaced the main fuel filter.
  • Cleaned the VST
  • Replaced the filter on the electric fuel pump.

I still get no pressure at the VST valve?
Is there anyway I can test the electric fuel pump? Resistance readings?

Ideas.

Re: 2003 150hp HPDI

using a digital voltmeter, with key on unplug the blue and red wires at the pump. test red on the engine side to ground.
should have 12V. if 12V is presant hook the reds back together and jump the Blue from the pump to the block.
if the pump does not run its time for removal.
these pumps can stick from non-use.
if stuck go to your dealer, buy a can of combustion chamber cleaner. remove the VST pump and place in a 16OZ mason jar, spray the contents of the cleaner into the jar and let it soak over night.
then using a shop battery and 2 jumper leads toggle the pump. you may have to toggle it one way the reverse the lead polarity and hit it again then reverse again.
occasionally I have to hit them with 24V.
that pump is 797 dollars and well worth trying to save.
but if its stuck try soaking in part number ACC-CMBSM-CL-NR.
dunno if anything else will work its all I have ever used and we get 10 or so each spring.
so far only one was scrap due to the customer burning it up while trying to force it with jumpers without soaking it.
