2003 225 EFI oil injection removal. Possible??

As the title states, I have a 2003 225 EFI Merc on a Nitro bass boat. Oil injection has always made me nervous ever since I had to rebuild my first 40 horse Johnson after a VRO pump gave up the ghost. This motor has so far had the level switch in the motor mounted oil tank go bad. Also, the little ring on the bottom of the oil tank float came off and I'm now replacing the tank.

This has got me seriously motivated to maybe do away with the whole system and premixing, but I've heard that it isn't possible on this particular motor. Does anyone know for sure if that is true, or if it is possible, exactly what steps I need to take? I know this is a contentious topic, and the merits for and against removal have been debated extensively, but does anyone think I definitely shouldn't do this if I can?

Thanks a lot for any insight!:D

That is a really reliable oiling system as it bottom mounted...I myself would leave it alone.

Thanks a lot for replying! That does make me feel better about it. What about the stories about a plastic gear wearing out causing the oil injection to fail? Is that not a problem on this motor?

Thanks again!

Thats on the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 liter motors, not quite the same on a 3.0 liter like yours....
