I have a 2003 90hp Yamaha outboard ... I took it out for the first time last week after draining all old gas and putting in new plugs in which it ran full throttle for 10 seconds and choked out ... took it to a mechanic, in which he adjusted the linkage to carbs, changed plugs again, and adjusted intake screws ... Took ti on water again today and it choked out again after 10 seconds of open throttle. Motor runs perfect with the muffs on it and will not choke out, but once in water it will not stay running .. Is there a load resitor or something electrical that may be causing this to choke out when it actually has to push the boat ??? Noticed today that my locator also went out when choked out .. But came back on when motor started again... Anyone help??

no resistors.
most likly clogged carbs.
if you do the carbs do the fuel pump at the same time.
why bother the screws?
if it worked fine before sitting and not after sitting it is NOT an adjustment.
continued running lean can cause piston damage.
on the locator, clean and check all ground and positive connections from the battery to the engine and from the engine or battery to the locator.
