Thinking about buying this motor it is clean with 96 hours. Were these problematic? I know the early ones had some problems but did Bombadier get them fixed by 03. Anything specific to this motor I should be concerned about. Are they decent on fuel at cruise?
Thanks very much for your help

I believe that the '03 models had been reengineered by BRP and are reliable engines.

It will be quieter and more fuel efficient than a carbed model, but it takes fuel to make 175 horsepower, so don't expect it to be a sipper.

Thanks Jb
I guess another or better questionmight be if this would be more fuel efficeint at cruise speed than my 1997 60 degree johnson carbed 115
its on a 1997 Lund 1850 Tyee and I usually have a heavy load in the boat. I fish between 3 and 6k feet in altitude

great motor
be sure to use xd-50 oil or better and it just might be better on fuel than your carbed 115

It's a super motor. A few service hints:

Remove and clean the exhaust pressure sensor on the stb. lower side of the block. That should be done once a year or every 100 hours, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.

There are 3 thermostats and one pressure relief valve. Make sure they are operational and the motor is coming up to temperature at idle.

Like was said by marinemech1, use the Evinrude XD-50 for best results and XD-100 when boating in near freezing temperatures.
