Didn't get to go fishing this week like I had planned and have to go back to work tomorrow night. So just to let it run some, I put the hose on the motor and cranked her up.

The motor had ran for probably 10 minutes and an alarm went off. Looked at the gauges and the oil light was on. Looked down at the tank and it still had 3/4 of a gallon. Shut the motor off and let it sit for a few minutes. Cranked it back up and after about 5 minutes the alarm came back on.

Would this be an issue caused by letting it idle with no load, or do I need to take it to the shop?

Thanks guys.

By any chance did you squeeze the oil line bulb to see if it was firm?

After I read your message I went outside and felt the bulb, which was firm. I cranked the motor back up and let it run again to reproduce the problem to see if maybe it was losing prime somehow and causing an oil crisis. But, all I could come up with was the old mechanic explanation... "Couldn't reproduce problem, all appears well with the motor."
