My 2003 Mercury 115 (2-stroke, non-EFI)has a sporadic miss across almost the entire RPM band. However, it rarely misses out at full throttle (5000-5100 rpm) I suspect a bad CDM/coil pack for one of the cylinders based on past problems with another Merc. Is there anyway to test the CDM's? <br />Also, my fuel economy seems to be very poor. Could this be related or is this model just the OPEC "Outboard of the Year"?

Re: 2003 Merc 115 - engine miss

There are two other posts for this same problem. One was cured my installing smaller main jets. 1 step leaner cured the problem for a boat in the Atlanta area.I tried going 1 step and it helped alot. The problem is still there, but since I live in Colorado, I have ordered two steps leaner jets. Two seperate mechanics have checked the ignition systems on my engine, reporting no problems. 1997 125hp. good luck
