I used my boat during low tide and got some sand in the motor, while flushing with freshwater for about 8 mins or so, I noticed a lot of sand came out of the prop and water stopped coming out, and it started beeping. I immediately shut down the engine. I tried to replace the impeller by unscrewing 5 bolts off the lower unit, but lower unit would not drop, I do have an owners manual but need more assistance in doing this. should I just take my boat to the dealer or local shop ? is this outboard too complicated to work on ? thank you much for your assistance.
