I just bought a 2003 Nitro Fish and Ski. The radio worked long enough for me to put a CD in it and then died. I bought a new Radio and spliced into the wiring. Red to Red, Yellow to Yellow, and Black to Black. The new radio will not turn on also, I figured the old radio just died. The red wiring behind the radio has a 3 amp glass circuit breaker, it is good, The yellow has a 10 amp glass circuit breaker, it is good. When I hook up a voltage meter, I get a reading from the red wire but no reading from the yellow wire, as if it is dead. I checked all the fuses in the fuse box, they are all good. I don't understand how the old radio worked for a couple of second and now don't get any reading on the yellow wire. All I did was splice the wires to hook up the new radio. When I take the yellow wire and hook it up to the red wire, the radio works. Any thoughts on to why to power when hooked up correctly(from all the reading, the yellow wire is supposed to be the continuous line). Thanks for your time!!!

Welcome aboard.

The yellow wire is for the memory to keep last station, station presets, clock, etc. info from disappearing.

The red wire can be switched or hot only when the accessory power circuit is on and the yellow should be powered and hot at all times or the radio will not work. You need to trace the yellow voltage back to it's source. Does the yellow wire fuse holder have constant 12 volts? Maybe it's hooked up to the accessory circuit?

I would say your old radio worked just fine. It sounds like you've got a bad connection somewhere in the yellow wire. Fix that and either radio should work just fine. All it needs is a source of 12 volts. You can splice that into a fuse most anywhere and be good to go.
