2003 Suzuki DF115 Tach problems

This is my first time post. I just bought a DF115 used. I got it with all the harnesses and tach. Everything works but I have not been able to get the actual tach to work. All the warning lights seem to work but just not the tach. Any help is greatly appreciated.

depending on how old the engine is; you should have a grey, yellow, black cable plus one square 4 cable plug to the tach (?) yellow, black and grey etc, should be coming from shifter (if its a sidemounted shift) or from the ign.switch.
