Looking for some input I found out last year when replacing starter that the bolt area holding the starter was cracked. Mechanic said probably would break eventually and today it did.

I asked around at that time about options or welding etc and didn’t get very far apart from get a new engine. A local fab shop said they would try to weld it if I pulled the engine which may be what I need to do anyways but I doubt it will hold with the threads and that little bit of cast around it. Anyone have any ideas where to get a used engine I called a couple marinas around me with no luck?

Trying to weigh my options if I should just sell it as it sits with trailer and let someone else put the money into it as I was going to buy a different boat next year. It’s in pretty good shape the boat has new fuel pump starter etc and so is the trailer. Interior seats have some tears but also pretty good shape overall.

Let me know what you think.

You can get a new short block, or pull a 4.3 from a truck, strip it down to the short block, and build it back up to a marine engine with brass core plugs, marine head gaskets, and a marine water pump
