2003 Yam F50 TLRB raps after fogging

Following the owners manual for storage, l let the motor warm up using flushing muffs, drained the oil and changed the filter and added new oil. I restarted it and ran it for 10 minutes to check for leaks. I shut it down, checked the oil level- everything OK. I restarted it, set the rpm at 2000 and sprayed Yam fogging oil in the airbox. After a couple of seconds the motor quit. I started it again and there's a loud rapping noise seeming to come from the valve train. I shut it down, let it sit for a few minutes then restarted- no noise until it warmed up then it started rapping again . The motor is under warranty until 6/06. What happened?

beats me I cant hear the noise. its possible you hydrolocked it with oil. its possible something just decided to break. but in either case I would take it to a dealer and have it cheked out.<br /> sometimes the airbox will fill then give a solid slug of oil to a carb, thats why you must remove the airbox for fogging.

check that your fuel line is plugged in correctly and the fuel system is primed.<br />the fuel pump banging on the cam shaft when its outta gas makes the noise you describe.

Thanks for your response. Rodbolt-I don't think there was enough oil to do that-I hope.<br />BenC-I sure hope that's the problem.I did unplug the fuel line. As soon as it gets light I'll check it out. Thanks again to you both.

BenC: you're exactly right, the fuel line was't plugged in all the way. A million thanks. You saved me a lot of heartache and a lot of bucks.

good deal. glad it was something simple.<br /> its another reason not to unplug the fuel system. can get hard on pumps working with no load.
