2003 yamaha 150, no reverse

I have a 2003 Yamaha 150 that will not go in reverse. The cabe is ok and not loose or broken. This started all of a sudden.

Have you gone to where the cable connects under the cowling and check there for full movement?

If that is moving OK, I would drop the gearlube next and check its condition.
