2003 yamaha vx200

Hi ,could any one tell me what might be wrong with my motor , when i try to start it after fishing a while it takes four to five times to start. it will sputter and go dead the first 2 or 3 times then it will start, idle a little rough then clears up, changed the plugs and no change . thanks .

a VX200 in that year is a 3.1L EFI motor.
I would check the lift pumps and fuel rail presure and the O2 sensor output voltage.
a double check of the linkage adjustments would be in order as well.
but you definately have a broke motor as EFI is turn key starting and if it does not its simply broke.
lets get it fixed before it dies.

Thanks rodbolt , could you tell me where i might get the info on fuel presure and 02 sensor output voltage . or do i need to drop it off at dealer ?

get the OEM service manual if you are gonna be doing the work yourself
