On occasion the engine jumps out of reverse. I had the lower unit removed and inspected last year because I though it was a problem with the gears. The mechanic said everything looked good and replaced all seals and reassembled. He said he could not recreate the problem during a test drive. Unfortunately I was able to recreate it this first day out after dropping the$350. It also seems as though it takes a longer throw to get into forward lately. Could this be a linkage problem?

Remove the side cover and check the shaft(#59) as I have seen the spot weld break from the factory. They brad the upright piece on and do a resistance weld on it. When broken it will give about 1/8 play in shifting. If its ok could be cable as TD suggests.

Thanks for the help guys. Just wondering what #59 is. I thought is was a part number, but I can't find it.

Heading down today to take a look at the problem.
