I have a 2004 Glastron GX 205 with a 5.0 penta (almost positive its a GL). I've recently had the problem with the trim motor continuing in the "up" direction even after I let go of the switch (switch isn't sticking up). This obviously isn't fun when your prop decides to raise itself out of the water. A couple times when this happened, I disconnected the wires between the trim motor and the relays and it corrected itself after a few tries. This weekend, the same thing happened, but the wires on the trim motor side were melted and the connection was fried on the green (down) side. I got it to work long enough to drop the prop down and disconnected them completely. I haven't looked into it much more but I have some questions to start with.
1- Does it look like the problem is on the relay side or the motor side (relays click and are clear of corrosion)
2- If it was a bad connector, can I cut the wires back on both sides and splice in new connectors, or will I need a new motor (I didn't look yet to see how the wires go into the motor...if its something I can get into to rewire or if its sealed)
3- where's the best place to find reasonably priced replacement parts (rebuilt wouldn't bother me)
Thanks for all of your help, as I don't plan on being stuck in the middle of the Chesapeake anymore.
