Hello Folks,
So I recently purchased a 2004 Bayliner 175 Alpha One 135 3.0L, from a family who had inherited the boat. The boat has been sitting in a warehouse roughly since 2007. And before it was put away in the warehouse, it had been used very few times. All the factory testing stickers are still on the boat. I picked the boat up covered in layers of dust dead bugs, but i quickly cleaned her up to reveal a flawless, unscathed clear coat and pearly white hull. I was overjoyed. All the upholstery is in excellent condition, no sun damage what so ever. Beneath the engine cover I found a beautiful Alpha one 3.0l 135 engine. Also very clean. No leaks. Literally looks like it just came off the factory floor ....well almost. Previously the boat had been from a northern state so it had never been exposed to salt water, but the previous owner brought it down to Florida (my location) and put it away in storage. I'm sure he intended to use it, but due to age passed away.
Well now that you have a little background on the boat, allow me to explain my reason for this post. I'm sure you can already guess it's not simply just to share my lovely little story on how i found my diamond in a rough. I've done much searching through this forum and others, on how to properly bring a boat back to life after it has been idle for long periods of time. And I was pleased to find a plethora of information.
1. With that being said I have not attempted to start the boat and am quiet certain I have a fairly good game plan to bring her back to life. Replace Impeller, Lube, Sparks, Fuel, Battery and Oil. Now my conundrum is whether i should replace the water pump, and clean the carbs right off the bat, or would i be safe doing the replacements (Impeller, Lube, Sparks, Fuel, Battery and Oil) first and attempting to start it? Suggestions would be appreciated as I am new to boats that have been sitting, let alone boats that are in excellent condition that have been sitting.
2. I did not receive a service manual with the boat but was able to find the manual online. But for some reason Im having difficulty understanding how to determine the correct replacement parts. Ex: How would i go about finding the correct impeller for my boat? And where would i find the best prices for parts/oil.
3. Id also like to ask for suggestions on oil and propellers for my particular boat. Which would be best suited for Florida weather/salt water? 2004 Bayliner 175 Alpha One 135 3.0.
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!
