What's up, guys. I'm thinking about grabbing another boat. It's a 2004 Bayliner 249 sundeck. I'm not crazy about Bayliner and the way their stuff is put together. But I've never looked at one this recent. Anybody have any thoughts on them? Are they built better than the older ones. It seems pretty nice for the price. Has a Merc 5.0. I'm gonna look at it this week. Just was looking for a little input if anyone has any. Thanks again.

Bayliner quality has improved over the years .

I’m assuming it is 24 ft? If so I would think it would be underpowered with a 5.0 . Depending on you intended use and load to haul you may find it lacking.

If it’s a 5.0 mpi you will be fine enough for power i would think.

good friend of mine has a 24 ft Crownline, 350 mag mpi @ 300 hphooked to a bravo 3. Would describe that as a little better than adequate. With his family and ours it could use a 6.2, maybe could get away with Hills props 4x4 and the 350, but I’d think with a 5.0 you would be underpowered.

this bayliner may be lighter than the example I mentioned but either way I think you want to have close to the top engine option originally offered. If you just cruise out and anchor maybe doesn’t matter. If you ski, board and tube with a boat load of people like me you need more azz...
