2004 Caravelle 212 Interceptor

Any opinions on this boat or company. Thinking of buying one with the 350 Mag engine. Very sporty looking boat and I think I am getting a very good price on it. <br /><br />Anyone have one or a Caravelle in general? Looking for pro's and con's.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Craig

Caravelle is a small builder. Good dealer would be an important plus. The Interceptors do look like a lot of fun. Closest competitor would be the Stingray, which is also fast. Hello<br />I have the '99 232 Interceptor BR. I love it.<br />Bought it brand new in April '99. I like the sleek low profile look.<br />Mine has the 5.7GSi-DP Volvo with Corsa quiet choice and will run 60 top and gets pettty good gas mileage, too.<br />No problems with it yet - other than a bad raw water pump . Close to 280 hours on motor.<br />Overall a really nice boat for the money -IMO.

I looked at Caravelle also. Nice looking boats and the price was attractive. <br /><br />Only drawback for me was we were looking at a 24' Bowrider and it still had the 350 Mag in it. While that engine will still work fine in that boat - for my taste I wanted the 454 or 502 with that much hull to push. <br /><br />If you ski a lot you might want to ask around and see how good a job it does popping them out.

Thanks for the comments and links everyone. I have a new Caravelle Interceptor 212 on order and I should be picking it up early next week. I went ahead and sprung for the 350 MAG MPI. It comes with the bigger outdrive and an SS prop.<br /><br />Things that drew me to this boat besides Looks, price, & performance were... No wood in boat anywhere, nice finish, snap-in carpet, Stainless popup cleats and rails, COOL separate racing stlye throtle and fwd-rev controls. Switchable captains call exhaust.<br /><br />This will be our second boat. The first was a Stratos 279 Fish & Ski. <br /><br />I hope it will not be too much of a gas hog. I will be pulling my two boys wake and knee boarding as well as the tube thing. Just looking to make great memories for our family.<br /><br />Thanks again people.<br /><br />ChevyReb
