Hello, I have recently purchased a 2004 Crestliner Sportfish 1750 from my father who bought the boat new in 2003. I will be picking up the boat next month from his house In Michigan. He never used the boat much so it has low hours. He said the boat has been in the garage for 3 years now and never taken out of the garage. It has a 90hp Johnson outboard motor. The gas tank is built into the boat I believe a 22 or 33 gallon tank if I remember correctly. He said, it has a half tank of 3 year old fuel in it. How would you suggest I clean out the old fuel and do you think the tank will be gummed up. As far as I have read (1.drain fuel, 2. add two gallons of alcohol and swish, 3. drain alcohol. and repeat 4. clean fuel lines) so my question is would you recommend taking fuel tank out of boat if so how hard and is it aluminum, plastic, steel?
Thanks
Andy

Not sure what it is made of, but draining in, adding alcohol, draining it, adding gas draining it, then running about 5 gallons of gas through it with a water separating filter in line to see if any problems occur would be my plan. I would also clean the carbs and put in a new impeller before I ran it. New fuel lines would not hurt either. No need to take the tank out, a 20 dollar electric fuel pump can make this go fairly fast.
