Engine runs fine at low rpm but when I accelerate the engine accts like it's running out of fuel and then accelerates again and then acts like it's running out of fuel this continues for perhaps 5 minutes, then seems to run of. Thank you for your time and help. The boat has a water seperator and shows no water, where would be a good place to start working on this????

Re: 2004 DF 90 Engine loses power when I accelerate

Sure sounds like it's a fuel related problem. Start at the tank and work your way to the engine. Look closely into the tank: is there ANY debris in it? If there is, borrow another tank to check the problem. Look for a weak or collapsed hose. Go to the bulb; is the arrow pointed toward the engine? Is the bulb raised or is it laying flat? Does it collapse when the problem occures? By-pass the seperator; does the problem still occure Go to the engine mounted filter; is there debris or water present there? Some more experienced viewers of this post might say that one part, some parts or all parts of this test series are not necessary. As a commeted DIY guy I like to do everything possible to eliminate a $$ trip to the mechanic. Zap
