2004 E225FPX Reliable Motor?

By 2004, did Bombardier/Evinrude have the problems worked out with the Ficht series engines?
I found a great deal on an engine but I have no experience with the '04 Ficht and am wondering if they are reliable.

I have questions like...do you have to index the plugs....and is it one of the models that requires a series of upgrades to the ECM...stuff like that.

If the PO had it serviced as it should, the servicing dealer should have performed any upgrades needed. If getting from a dealer have him check the ECM for version or if a outside source check it real good and ask plenty of questions(type oil used,fuel,hours,can you take it to dealer to have checked,lower unit as they are rough on them)

Thanks, Fazt, very much. This was an Ebay auction, no BRP/Evinrude dealer is involved. It seemed like a price too good to pass up, so I bid on it. I will drive to KY and pick it up on Monday, and ask all the questions you have suggested. I guess I will be going by near where you are. Gonna go thru Atlanta, then Chattanooga, then Nashville on my way to Scottsville, KY.

I guess I will be getting the PC software soon to examine the ECM codes. Again, thanks for the response.
