hello everyone,

I took my 2004 Johnson outboard in for some maintenance and it hasn?t been the same since. The mechanic recommended that I switch from quicksilver from Wal-Mart to yammalube 2m. I noticed the motor floods out easy when starting and when in low idle, when you accelerate it take a little while to get on plane, but then dose fine. also at the end of my runs i will notice unburned oil running down the bottom of the motor. I changed the plugs and nothing. Could this oil switch cause the motor to run too rich or too lean? Does anyone have any suggestions where to start, or what it could be?
- Thank you in advance :D:)

A change in oil at the same ratio should not make any difference. You need to look deeper into the cause. What work was said to have been done to it ??
Just my opinion though.

Let the mechanic who worked on your engine deal with it assuming he guarantees his work. I doubt that flooding is the result of changing oil.

You have other problems and it's not the oil. Take it back to the mechanic and tell him to check it over again.
