Hi all,

During my used boat search, I talked to a sales guy that gave me the following pricing information on a new boat. Sounded like a pretty good deal.

2004 Maxum 1800 SR3 with a 4.3L (190HP) Mercruiser and a bunch of options.

MSRP: $24147

His Quote: $19995

Good price? Is the Maxum 1800 SR3 any good? Seemed like a nice boat from the brochure and web site. What do you think?

This Maxum is very similar to the same size Bayliner. Personally I like the styling on the Bayliner better.

Price wise the Maxum may be slightly more than Bayliner, Glastron SX, and Tahoe. But should still be under Crownline, Ebbtide, and Four Winns Horizon.

Kelly

The Bayliner 185 with similar equipment would be around $18500. I'm curious as to what the Four Winns 180 Horizon would cost?

For the $1500 difference I would just go with the Bayliner. Haven't seen anybody posting a price for the '04 Four Winns 180 Horizon yet. Not one of my favorite boats so I don't pay much attention to them anyhoo.

Kelly

Not bad Hammlfam. That sounds like a good price. You got my attention.

Lots of people that post here have Glastrons and most love them to death. I'll have to try and give them a look but my nearest dealer is about 60 miles away.

Re: 2004 Maxum 1800 SR3?

I looked at the Maxum 1800 SR3 today. The fit and finish wasn’t too bad. I’d say it was a step up from most “value” boats. However, there was an obvious problem that could have been easily avoided and/or corrected. The carpet on the sides was glued. This is ok but it looks like my 4 year old did the work! Glue was oozing out from under the carpet and got all over the carpet and fiberglass liner. Even though there was a large amount of glue used, the carpet was not secured correctly. It looked like crap! How could Maxum pass this shoddy workmanship on to the consumer? I work hard for my money and refuse to spend it on poor workmanship. End rant.

KCook, here is some additional pricing info.

2004 Maxum 2000 SR3 (Trailer not included)

MSRP: $31389

Retail: $24495

I see the 20' Maxum is less $$ than the 19' Four Winns you found?
Four Winns:

190 Horizon (2004), 5.0L (220HP) Mercruiser I/O, $26850
Once you hit the 20 - 21 foot range, all bets are off. There are many nice boats to choose from in this size. Here is another thread that may help -

BoatingABC.com » ... » Low Priced V-8 powered boats

Kelly
