I have a 2004 fourwinns 170LE. Just started the boat for the first time since November, I noticed the exhaust is exiting directly below the outdrive. I was under the assumption that the exhaust came out thru the prop area. I could be wrong. I have never really paid much attention to how or where the exhaust exits while it is in the water. I only noticed because I started it on the trailer today. The boat is used in both fresh and salt water. I live in Fl. so it goes everywhere. In a prior post, I was concerned about the floatation due to the fact that we were gone out of town only to return and find the boat with 10" of water in it due to heavy rain/storms. The mooring cover was ripped off, and the boat filled quickly. Found out that the new boats are built to withstand full submersion without affecting the floatation. Back to the issue, is it possible for the exhaust to be clogged with barnicle build up in the lower outdrive area??? We travel alot, and I try to lift the boat high enough to get the foot out of the water, however, at times friends borrow the boat and leave it in the water for weeks at a time. Barnies' grow really fast down here!!!! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

More than likely it's fine...both the Cobra I have and the Volvo SX tend to exhaust most of the cooling water from under the transom mount at idle on the water hose...it exits the prop at higher speeds when in the water....
