2004 Yamaha 150 HPDI

I just purchased a Hydra-Sport 212WA. The dealer gave me the option of a carbed 150 or the HPDI 150 for only a 300 dollar difference. What are your thoughts on the HPDI and has there been any issues with them? They are both 2004's.

both will give you good service if maintained exactly by recommended service intervals.<br />i have heard people who have done the carb to hpdi conversion say the carb version had a little more go. servicing the hpdi will cost more per service.

the 150 HPDI was a bit more stable than the 200 but the service is 3 times the cost of the carbed version. and unlike the carberd version if you fail to do it it will die. its a maint intensive beast. but it starts well and requires no thought from the operator.

I have a 2004 model of Yamaha 150Hk HPDI Vmax at Yamarin 6210 boat.<br /><br />The motor are exceptional good and responsible. That motor are quick and the fuel consume is cheap. Fuel consume is proximately 0.9 litre each nautical mile. I used Yamaha PRO steel propel.<br /><br />My motor has run 40 hrs with auto any problems. <br /><br />Carburettor are an old technologies and I recommendation you to bay new technologies.<br /><br />Good luck to you choice.<br /><br />Mvh<br />John Kr

G'day<br />When I was considering a new motor last year I came to this site and received good advice. I chose the Yamaha 40XWT, premix, 2 cylinder with a single carburettor. Old technology that is tried, adapted, modified over the years and proven. Sure, it may use a little more fuel and perhaps not give as many HP for its displacement but it sure beats the crap out of all the problems I read here with oil and fuel injection. To me the old principle still applies. KISS... Keep It Simple Stupid. This motor is great.
