I was fishing in some shallow water and my prop clipped a rock. I continued for a short distance and shut her down. we continued fishing: drifting in to shore and motoring back out a short way. This happened several times. About the third time, I noticed the motor running funny, it was in reverse at the time. Finally it was time to go, and upon starting the engine noticed it running rough. It was surging fast then slow, fast then slow and then died altogether. Then it would not start at all. This is my first inboard motor and has ran great since we purchased it a few months ago. (we upgraded from a 90 Horse outboard Johnson) Any ideas what might have happened? Any adivce is appreciated. Thanks.

Check your fuel water seperating fuel filter for water. DON'T just change it, pour the contents into a clear container and see if there is water in it.
Then install a new filter. DO NOT reuse a filter after emptying it.
