I am rebuilding my fuel pump with kit number 18-7818-1. while diassembling my pump I noticed that the rubber in the package is different than the original pulled from the pump. In this package one of the rubber layers had two holes in it. Is this ok to use in the rebuild or I need to send this back for a new pump kit. If it is ok to use do which way should he two holes be placed?

Re: 2005 90hp merc fuel pump rebuild

which is why OEM kits usually work better.
some of the older oil injected motors used a fuel pump diaphram with holes to aid in oil mixing, others used a check valve in the oil line.
the OEM kits contain both styles AND clear instructions and pictures all the way down to how to modify,if nessasary, the pump body for the late style nylon check valve discs.
to answer your question, if the original pump used 2 solid diaphrams you MUST use 2 solids.
