In general, probably not a lot of difference behind the shine between the 2 boat brands. As long as they are in decent shape and you don't see/feel and soft spots in the flooring, etc, go with what you like.

Bigger is better, more power is better.

one is bigger and comes with about $1000 in skis, vests, rope, boards, etc

as Ted stated, bigger is better, more power is always better.

I bought a new 202 in 2000 and still love it. It still looks new. Its a great all around boat. I use it on a big lake and also the great lakes. Only complaint is that it rides rough and wet in big waves due to somewhat flat hull design. Hull has other benefits so it's still a good trade off.

On the crownline, if you look at the drive/prop photo...it looks like there is a flat bit on the bottom of the skeg. Mine is a similar vintage and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have this. I have seen other drives with this....now wondering why the difference.
Sorry if I'm off topic.

Ok..just looked up the answer to my own question.
It appears that the alpha 1 gen 1 has the flat bit on the bottom of the skeg....the gen 2 doesn't. It's razor sharp.
Does this mean that the crownline has possibly had a drive replacement (or at least a lower unit replacement) at some point....and for an older gen 1?

Somebody can likely correct me, but if not there are questions to be asked.

I like that 202...it hits the marks for a better than average boat which is most of the bow riders that sizes. Ss pop up cleats, Ss hardware abound, heavily upholstered, mpi engine, glass floors . (Was becoming a standard feature in the mid 2000s anyway but...). I'll give a pass for the aluminum prop and the oddly out of place plastic cupholders....weird way to save a few bucks on this nice looking boat. One size up and I'd be expecting a bravo 1 or 3 but not this smaller 202.
