Hello and thanks for the help.
I am working on a 2005 Evinrude ETEC 200 E200dpxsoc
Symptom: Turns over, will fire once or twice but will not catch. If I throw a small amount of fuel in the intake it will start and run for a couple seconds until that fuel burns up.
Observations: Compression good 110-120 on each cyl. 40psi fuel pressure with key on and fuel pump running. 30v at the big blue capacitor key on. I have removed injectors to observe their function, they all spit gas although quality of flow is suspect. Spark confirmed on all by timing light. Battery connections good and battery is strong.
History: I got this motor basically for free because the previous owner thought it was seized. It was not seized, but most of the flywheel magnets had dislodged and were preventing the flywheel from spinning. I carefully removed each magnet, the flywheel now can spin and the motor will fire once or twice as previously explained. I live in the carribean and dont have easy access to a diagnostic laptop, so I am trying to solve this old-school.
Question: I know this motor runs on 55v and what I am wondering is whether the stator only charges the battery like in my Suzuki motors, or is it integral to the creation of the 55v necessary to fire the injectors or time the injectors? Given the above information the problem seems to be fuel supply; even though fuel pressure is good and injectors are activating something is still off. I know I would need to replace the flywheel either way, but before I spend the money and wait a month to get it all the way down here, I was wondering if the running problem could be attributed to anything else, EMM failure for example, in which case I probably would not pursue this motor further.
Any help would be appreciated.
