2005 Suzuki DF90 EFI Water Circuit

Hi! I’m Portuguese and new in this forum. I would like to understand the cooling water flow in my new SUZUKI DF 90 EFI (2005).

The first time I run the engine there was no telltale. I insisted some days later and there was a telltale. Unfortunately, a month later there was no telltale again. All the tests were made with the muffs.

Based on the Suzuki Parts List, I made the attached diagram for the water flow.

I would appreciate very much if someone could confirm if my diagram is correct. According to this, when no water flows out of the pee hole (and since no blockage exists in the tubes) then a water pump failure is the only reason. Thank you very much.

Remove and clean the water pressure valve. Valve should be located on PORT side of engine. You will have to remove the PORT side lower cover. If you are running engine in salt/dirty water, it should be flushed after each use with clean water.

I agree with you, the back pressure valve is also a possibility (I’ve included it in an updated version of my diagram of the cooling circuit).

I will report back about my findings, but this will only happen within a month and a half, since meanwhile I will be fishing (I hope!).

Thanks a lot!

Hi!
I have faced a similar type problem. On the second time using engine after winter break in the last summer the telltale didn't appear. On next time it started to work just fine. After the summer I flushed the engine but no telltale again. I didn't let the engine run more max two minutes. And I never heard warning buzzer going on. Now in this spring I have same problem. The impropeller was changed two years ago. I do not think that the problem could be there. The engine that I have is DT140 (1983).

Could you kindly advice where is the PORT you have referred ? Thank you.

Regards, Jari
