2005 Yamaha VMax Problems

Purchased new Pathfinder 5 months ago, with 200 HP Vmax HPDI engine. Less than 100 hours on it.<br />Has been maintained perfectly. Lot of problems. Dealer replaced powerhead already. Engine still knocking. My questions is: Will Yamaha give me a new engine if dealer can't get me back to perfect?<br /><br />Thanks, great to be on the board.

I doubt it<br /> seems the HPDI is sometimes problematic. however most times I caan find the cause of the first failure and prevent the second.<br /> so welcome to the iboats world just dont get addicted .<br />can you tell me why the first one failed and the symptoms you have had on the second ?

I don't have a VMax but I do have a 150 4stroke. I bought it new in 04 and had problems with oil leaking. About 4 drops of oil would leak out of "somewhere" and pool up in the bottom of the cowling every trip. I took it in about half a dozen times and they couldn't figure it out. They put dye in the oil to see where it was coming from to pulling the power head and changing the main seal.<br /><br />They finally gave up and replaced the motor with a new 05 model. I hate problems that just don't go away. Good luck.
