I have a 2006 115HP Optimax (2 stroke, 3 cylinder) motor and I have a question on the cables that connect the throttle cable linkage to my throttle position sensor. On my engine, the throttle cable comes in from the front of the engine and is attached to the port side of the engine. From there, two separate steel cables (like those used on bicycle brakes) are routed over the top of the engine to the starboard side where they connect to the TPS. My question is how taught should these cables be? On my engine they are very loose (1/2" play to either side). It would seem to me that you would want a little less play if you are trying to control sensitive electronic components. Any help/comments would be appreciated
