So i have no idea why my engine is getting hot please Help! So I have noticed that my engine temperature slowly creeps up to 200. When it would get to 200 the thermostat would finally open and it would drop down to 160. Well after inspecting the t-stat i noticed there was sand inside it, so i replaced it. Now with the new t-stat in the boat temp is still climbing to 200 and its not going down. When i opened the housing I noticed that the t-stat was just barely opening. Impeller was changed end of last June. When i pulled the t-stat briefly it would run about 110. Boat is in fresh water and pulled after every outing. Any help is appreciated.

sounds like the manifold/riser may be plugged up "noticed there was sand inside it"

Thanks... this sounds like a dumb question but i am fairly new to boat motors and have no idea what the manifold/riser is and how to unplug it.
