One of the risers was much hotter than the other, to the point you couldn't hold your hand on it. Taking off the elbow from manifold everything looked okay, shutters were intact and not bad at all. Went to store for new elbow riser gasket (40.00 ouch!) had to order..specail gasket i guess...anyway when i removed the riser from the manifold i noticed that it was a restricter water inlet type gasket. The restricter hole was toward the front of the manifold/riser. I looked this gasket up and It indicated that the restricter hole be put toward the rear (see #9 in the attach). Could this gasket have been put in wrong from the factory, and this possibly be causing the riser to be significantly hotter than the other one? I don't want to take the other riser off for comparison for it seems to be fine and at 40.00 a gasket I wanted to try the forum first! Does anyone know the correct way the restricter water inlet hole should face? Thank all in advance for your advice! View attachment Riser Gasket.pdf

Ayuh,... The T-stat housing determines which gaskets are used between the manifold, 'n riser...

The correct gasket was ordered. A restricter type. Question is which side should the restricter hole be at...where the hose from the t housing goes into the riser or toward the rear of the riser as the attach indicates. I know the restricter hole has to do with pressure. Just want to make sure i put it back together correctly. I would think you would want full flow into the riser and not be restricted as to how it was when taken apart.???
