I am looking at a 2006 60hp Mercury Bigfoot 4 stroke. I'd like some advice concerning what to specifically look for when evaluating this motor. It has low hours allegedly but are there common issues that I should ask about or specific checks other than compression I should have done before buying? Thanks!

not a expert, but check compression, maybe the lower unit oil, shifting and service records. I just got a 40 hp merc 1992 and its always a roll of the dice with used outboards. Mine was relatively cheap, But if I was spending some cash I would find a reputable mechanic to do a thorough once over for a set price as insurance. I think salt water use vs fresh only plays a huge part in finding a used motor.

Fresh water used, 1K times betther than salt water use, no matter if mint pristine on the outside. Could have a disguised Pandora Box..

Happy Boating
